| Actually, they are very nice and tricky questions. In fact, I have managed to know all of them but 2, 4, and 5 I have some doubt with them. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] You have asked each one of us to answer only one question, so I am going to deal with the last one:8- Which is correct to say, "The yolk of the egg are white" or "The yolk of the egg is white"?The answer is: Both would be wrong because the yolk of an egg is yellow not white!
However, on the point of grammar, the yolk of ‘an’ egg is a singular object and therefore the correct form of the verb ‘to be’ in the sentence would be 'is' not 'are'.
Thus, the proper form is 'the yolk of the egg is yellow' or in the plural case 'the yolks of the eggs are yellow'. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] But now, I am going to make some allusions to the last questions without giving answers:1- The answer is so clear and easy.2- I have found two possibilities and could not judge between them.3- Your translation to this sentence will ruin the riddle and mislead the meaning and will not make it easier but sillier.4- I have no assertive answer at present (if the answer was logical and not silly) 5- The same as its precedent.6- Actually, this question puzzled me and I could not find one word but two if I am not mistaken!!!! Ha ha!! You know!!!! [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] 7- It is an easy question related to our knowledge. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] 8- I have just answered it. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] Finally, thanks a lot for your precious efforts and this precious topic.Thank you and God bless you! | |

| Hi guys and especially Looking for Glory! Dear, this is my answer to the third question: 3. A woman from New York married ten different men from that city, yet she did not break any laws. None of these men died and she never divorced. How was this possible? She should be a nun or priestess. Or in other words, she has something to do with law, authority, or religion. I have said to you earlier that you cannot translate this sentence without ruining the riddle because the verb “to marry” does not mean only “get married”, but also has another meaning which is “give in marriage”, so to speak, This is just to clarify the image to those who do not study English, not for you. Ha ha ha! But where are the English students??????????????? Are they dead??!!!!! Thanks dear! | |
